That's it...
VAMO - I'm done with you!
Back in July of 2013, my VAMO 2 DIED...
Now granted, I had a little bit to do with the VAMO 2 dying, especially considering that I did in fact drop it. Sure, I expected it to last a little longer and be more durable...
So I ordered the VAMO 3 and was happy to have the "upgrade"...
So What happened with the VAMO 3?
Well, the 510 threads are stripped!
I treat all of my stuff like delicate little flowers (not counting the odd drop here or there). I find it next to impossible to believe that I caused the metal to be stripped, but alas, the proof is in the pudding...
So what am I going to do about it?
I've got one of these on order:
That's right, I jumped ship...
Goodbye VAMO hello SIGELEI LEGEND...
If you've read my Sigelei #19 Review, you already know that I like Sigelei products... Money doesn't grow on trees (at least where I live), so I can't afford to try the VAMO 4 and VAMO 5. To be honest, the 4 and 5 still have the same soft chromed BRASS threads on the 510 connector, while the Sigelei appears to have a Stainless Steel 510 connector.
Anyway, I'm pretty sure I'll be reviewing it soon, so keep your eyes peeled...
As always, thank you so very, very, very much for your continued support, thank you for your comments and thank you for Liking it, Tweeting it, Sharing it, +1ing it and telling your dog about it, etc... ;)
And don't forget, if you Follow this Blog (over in the right pane), you can be alerted every time I post a new review!

I currently have a Vamo 5 and am very pleased with it. Has so many features but the best part is the voltage control. Pastor Keith you should look into getting a Vaultz Vape Case if you don't have one already. I reviewed it on my blog you should check it out!
ReplyDeleteRynoHits,
DeleteWelcome to my little corner on the Net....
First of all, nobody loved the VAMO more than I did... It had everything, was relatively inexpensive and it had a better screen/readout than 99% of the other VV/VW devices available when it was originally released..
As for the V5, it's just an amalgam of the V3 & V4. They took the OLED display and the removable top from the V3 and put it with the body from the V4 (which is actually the body from the V2, lol)
The real problems lie in the fact that the 510 connector is made out of a soft brass. Every VAMO ever made has a chromed brass 510 connector, regardless of whether you purchase a Stainless VAMO or a Chromed one. Since you have to remove your atomizing device so often, you're going to strip those threads MUCH FASTER than if they were SS (well, unless you're using an eGo threaded device). Hopefully the V6 will have SS threads.
But I'll tell you what, as I just said in response to Shaun, I'm really liking both the display AND the way the Legend works. It has every feature the VAMO has, PLUS some... But we'll have to see how it holds up to some testing, BEFORE I review it... ;)
Thanks for your comments...
Helo guys :)
DeleteThe exact same thing happened to my Vamo V5...in only one month! I had a conversation with the guy that had the site from which i ordered it and he said that 5% of the vamo are defective. However in the same site he had 2 types of vamo v5 (something that i didnt originaly notice). The vamos he was selling just the mod were the lame ones...the vamos he was selling in a kit were the new improved type. SS threads, better beding of the screen and SS protection layer for the battery instead of the paper one. I just didnt notice at first cause i already had a charger and batteries etc. I found it a bit odd but i thought it worth mentioning. After all i really enjoyed my vamo :(.
Sorry to hear your Vamo has went bad.
ReplyDeleteI have a V5 and the threading on this looks like brass. I heard bad reports about the threading letting the device down so bought an air flow controller to reduce the wear and tear. Low and behold, the buttons are starting to fail now!
Decent little units, but I think the build quality is slightly suspect.
Let me know how you get on with the new toy, I will be in the market for a replacement for my V5 soon so looking forward to seeing how you get on!
Hope you are well :)
Shaun,
DeleteTrust me when I say, that nobody is more sad about my 2nd VAMO becoming unstable/unusable.
I've only had the Legend for 1 whole day (at this writing) and I can tell you this much... First it only has 1 button, so there's 2 less buttons to break. The entire APV is made of stainless, except for the brass contacts and the chromed "metal" button.
I'm going to need to put it through some more paces before I review it, but as of this exact moment, I reallllllllllllly like this thing...
It just goes to show, that you can't believe what every reviewer has to say. :)
Thanks for checking in, I hope you and your family are doing well too!
We're all good here, hope you and your family are well
ReplyDeleteI've been reading up on the specs of the Legend and looks pretty nice.
It was the reviews of the VAMO by you that got me into Mods and off the Ego's - love mine to bits, even if it is starting to fall to bits ha-ha. Great when they work, and puff per pound, it's hard to go wrong really even if they don't last so long.
Was thinking about a ProVari but I cannot justify the cost, when the weekly food shop/petrol/rent is going sky high and showing no signs of relenting :(
Looking forward to the review though, looks like a nice bit of kit
I ended up ditching my Vamo V5, the fire button went "dodgy" and the right button doesn't seem to work at all now.
ReplyDeleteI plucked for a Innokin SVD, which is slightly larger than the V5 in 18650 mode, but I'm happy enough with it so far. Got a Kayfun lite on it with DIY liquids (all about saving the pennies now!) :)
